Liverpool still in the running to land Timo Werner from RB Leipzig

Timo Werner could still head to Liverpool this summer after RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff insisted they are no closer to a deal with Bayern Munich
Werner has been linked with a move to Liverpool this season but Bayern were thought to be at the front of the queue after the striker did not extend his contract, which expires next year.
The 23-year-old has 16 Bundesliga
goals this campaign and looks set to quit the Red Bull Arena.
'The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension,' Mintzlaff told Sky, as reported by The Echo. 'But that could change.
'I don't think it's completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven't talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet.
'Maybe he doesn't even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join (Thomas) Tuchel in Paris, (Jurgen) Klopp at Liverpool or (Lucien) Favre at Dortmund.'
Leipzig finish their league campaign this weekend at Werder Bremen before the German Cup final against Bayern on May 25.
Werner played in Saturday's goalless draw with the Bavarian giants.
He holds the record for youngest player to reach 100 and 150 Bundesliga games and has nine goals in 24 appearances for Germany since his debut in 2017. That was the same year he won the Golden Boot (three goals) as Germany lifted the Confederations Cup.
