Across the country, the flu has appeared to be harder than usual on young children this year. That has not been the case in Ottawa, where the majority of lab-confirmed cases have been among people over the age of 65.
In Ottawa, 264 cases of flu have been reported since the beginning of September. The vast majority of those lab-confirmed cases were influenza A, with slightly more H1N1 than H3N2. The median age of patients with confirmed flu cases is 55.
