revealed Manchester City
may widen their central defender search beyond Harry Maguire.
The Premier League
champions want a replacement for Vincent Kompany and Maguire is top of the list but Leicester
are looking to recoup a world record fee for a defender.
Guardiola confirmed that Fernandinho can fill the role if required but that City are still working on signings.
'We are looking for some names,' Guardiola said. 'We shall see if the market is possible and the club believes we can spend that money, but if they don't, we shan't spend it.
'Maguire is a Leicester player. I know some people like Bayern Munich like to talk a lot about Leroy (Sane), but usually I never speak about players at other clubs.'
Sane has still not made a decision on whether a move to the Bundesliga champions appeals.
'It is his decision, it's the same as what happened with (Jadon) Sancho,' Guardiola added.
'We want him, we are giving everything, but in the end, if he doesn't want, what can you do? Nothing. We know each other, we have tried, we will see what happens.'
